I value the uniqueness of each person in relation to their own life story....

Welcome

 Quick note

Hello! I am Shaun Lock.

I am a fully qualified Person-Centred Therapist and registered member of The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Thank you for dropping by. Please allow me to make looking for the right therapist easy for you.

I am a person centred counsellor because I believe in people having permission to be their true authentic selves. This is why I bring my not only my professional self but also my whole person to encourage authenticity and freedom of self within the therapy setting.

I have over three decades of experience of working in various therapeutic settings including:
The Priory Group, Mind, and Essex County Council with a diverse array of adults and young people.

I now work from my own private practice on the first floor of No.1 Church Street, Colchester.

I also work at the reputable Turner Centre in Colchester, where I also occasionally have some availability (see their website)

I have successfully engaged with many people who have presented as being in severe personal turmoil, crisis or breakdown. Sometimes people come with a feeling that they are unable to function properly or feel stuck in someway. By addressing these issues directly in therapy with my support people begin to grow and naturally heal. Having gained understanding to old mental dialogues and behaviours relating to past traumas, people begin to move forwards without the weight of their past or current situation holding them back anymore.

The opportunity for personal growth and enhancement of life through counselling is immense. A healthier mind naturally leads to a healthier body and a more enjoyable life.

It makes me very happy to increasingly notice that more men, as well as women, have become more comfortable to reach out and embrace coming into therapy. There is an overall noticeable positive shift in peoples attitudes towards therapy in the UK in recent years, at last!

Personally speaking, I see therapy as a strength because true self awareness and understanding allows people to become stronger and better themselves.

What can you expect from working with me?

I will support you and empathically understand your unique experiences with you at your own pace and at your level of comfort and intensity. I am warm, non-judgemental, candidly honest and direct as a person. This means that I am not fluffy, stuffy or clinical.  People who value these traits tend to connect well with me. I am not afraid to be with anyone's discomfort or difficult feelings. I encourage and support people to explore their issues in a true light where real meaning and fresh understanding can be found.

It makes me very happy when clients report to me that therapy has been 'life changing', 'life-saving' and 'priceless' to them in some way.

Feel free to drop me an email at shaunlock@colchestertherapy.co.uk to check my availability or you can message/call me on 07395 467041 and I will get back to you as soon as I can be available.
Don't leave it any longer!

All the best,

Shaun Lock, BA (Hons).
